Everything depends on how we look at change, doesn’t it?
Change of season, from soothing, flowery spring to hot, violent summer; onset of puberty; a girl changing into a woman with all that pain and discomfort that menstruation brings, etc. All these are things that bring much grief.
But everything is temporary. When we remember this, it’s easier to face grief and overcome it with grace and humility.
Today, on 14 March 2022, while walking to my new office from the bus stop, I had a great time clicking photos. I was in unfamiliar territory, so that 10-minute walk felt more like a sightseeing tour with an exciting sense of adventure. See the pics below, starting with the most unusual statue I have ever seen.
From a distance, it looked like Shiva trying to look like Krishna, or Krishna playing as Shiva with snakes around him. Even Parvati looks more like Radha. Rather amusing, isn’t it? Well, God is one, you may say that here. Krishna, Shiva, it matters not.
On my way back home today, I clicked the pic of the statue again. This time, the glare of sunlight wasn’t there, so the pic was better. See it below.
On further googling about this, I came to know that the divine couple here is Krishna and Radha indeed, not Shiva and Parvati. What looks like a snake coiling around Shiva with its head over his face is actually a garland of flowers and Krishna’s trademark peacock feather. So the puzzle is solved now.
But, of course, such things don’t make much difference, do they? In our post-covid modern world, when earning our daily bread is far more important, who cares about mythology and its queer twists?
